2009-2010 Greek Move Out (Policy Updated: August 28, 2009)
After Recruitment, Housing Services partners with the Office of Student Life to facilitate new fraternity and sorority members moving from campus housing to the Greek Quad. Details regarding the Greek Move-Out 2009-2010 are listed below.
Contract Cancellation and Fees:
Gunsaulus, SSV and MSV residents who participate in Greek Recruitment and desire to move to a fraternity or sorority may do so without Housing Contract cancellation fees between September 8-13 only. Students must submit the Greek Petition to Release by September 11 at 5 pm. Residents who wish to cancel their Gunsaulus, SSV or MSV contract after September 11 will be assessed appropriate cancellation fees (refer to the Housing Services Room and Board Contract for the cancellation policy).
The Greek Petition For Release forms are available online at http://www.housing.iit.edu beginning September 3 at 9 am. The time for filing the Greek Petition For Release will close on September 11 at 5 pm.
Upon receiving the Greek Petition For Release form, Housing Services will provide additional details regarding the resident’s pending move out within 2-business days. Residents must receive written approval from Housing prior to moving to the Greek Quad.
Students submitting a Greek Petition For Release after September 11 at 5 pm will be held to full cancellation fees per the 2009-2010 Room and Board Contract. Late Greek Petition For Release will not be accepted.
Eligibility:
Students must be a new member of a Greek organization to be eligible for this policy.
Fees:
A transfer fee of $300, and nightly prorated room and board fees will be applied to the resident’s account. Prorated fees will be based on actual move out date from the residence halls, based on the return date of the resident’s room key. Based on resident room and board assignments, nightly prorated fees may vary.

Residents may not use more than 10% of their Bonus Points. If more than 10% of the points are used, this amount will be billed to the residents account.
Move Out:
Residents cannot move out without prior written permission from Housing Services. Any moves without prior written permission or moves not completed by September 13 at Noon will incur an improper move out fee of $150 per day.
Important Dates:
Thursday, September 3, 9 am – Greek Petition available at myroom.iit.edu.
Saturday, September 5 – Bid Day
Tuesday, September 8, 9 am – Earliest available date for move out.
Thursday, September 11, 5 pm – Deadline for submitting online Greek Petition.
Sunday, September 13, Noon – Deadline for moving out of the residence halls.
Spring Semester Move Out:
Petitions for Spring Move Out must be received by Tuesday, December 1, 2009; and moves must be completed by Tuesday, December 15 at Noon. A transfer fee of $300 will be applied to the resident’s account. Petitions after December 1, will incur all appropriate cancellation fees per the Housing Services Contract 2009-2010.
