Flexible Spending Accounts
Flexible Spending enables you to pay with pre-tax dollars eligible out-of-pocket medical, dental, vision and hearing expenses not covered by insurance as well as child/elder care.
Participants save by not paying federal, state, or Social Security (FICA) tax on the elected amount(s).
Plan highlights:
- From Monday, April 21st through Friday, May 2nd, enroll in the FSA plan, administered by Ceridian, effective June 1st. Submit enrollment forms directly to HR.
- Short Plan Year! Allocate for expenses expected from June 1- December 31, 2008. Beginning January 1, 2009, this benefit will move to a calendar year and you will again elect a flex amount.
- There will be no 2 ½ month extension for incurring expenses during this 7-month period.
- You MUST re-enroll if you participated in the FSA plan before; IRS regulations require participants to re-enroll for the FSA plan every year
- You don’t have to re-enroll in the reimbursement direct deposit program if you already have it. If you would like to begin direct deposit, you may enroll at this time.
- You must re-enroll in the Blue Cross Blue Shield automatic claim submission if you previously participated in this plan.
Those currently enrolled for FSA have an extra 2 ½ months or until August 15, 2008 to incur expenses against the amount elected in the 2007-2008 plan year. The deadline for submission of claims for reimbursement is August 29, 2008. Claims received by Ceridian after August 29th will not be honored.
