    Welcome to FSPCA Online

    The Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FSPCA) is a broad-based public private alliance consisting of key industry, academic and government stakeholders whose mission is to support safe food production by developing a nationwide core curriculum, training and outreach programs to assist companies producing human and animal food in complying with the preventive controls regulations that will be part of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).


    News


    The FDA has submitted the final preventive controls rules for human and animal food to the Federal Register for publication, as required by the court.
    Documents submitted to the Federal Register can publish several days after they are submitted, with larger documents taking longer to process and display. The FDA is committed to sharing information about the final rules and how food facilities can comply as soon as we are able to do so. Please check http://www.fda.gov/fsma for updates, which the agency will share as soon as the final rules are available via the Federal Register.

    NOTE: Applications are being actively reviewed by the Alliance Review Committee. We anticipate that multiple PC Course and Train-the-Trainer sessions will be scheduled throughout the fall and winter to accommodate the demand that we have received from individuals interested in becoming FSPCA Lead Instructors. We will notify selected applicants when training dates have been determined.  Please keep checking this page for announcements regarding future training sessions.

    FSPCA Pilot Sessions

    Guests from academia, state and federal government, industry and industry associations attended FSPCA Pilot sessions held in Maryland, Washington State and Chicago. Overall, the course was deemed well organized and the content clear. Based on Pilot feedback, the materials will be adjusted in preparation for publication of the final rule expected in August 2015.

    FSPCA Presentations

    August 2015

    Purnendu Vasavada presented an FSPCA update at the Artisan Cheese Food Safety forum on August 2.  Over 75 people, including delegates from Canada, Australia and Europe attended. Download the presentation.

    David Fairfield (NGFA) made an FSPCA presentation on August 3 at the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) meeting in Denver. The meeting was attended by over 350 state/federal feed regulatory officials and industry representatives.  The focus of the presentation was on the FSPCA’s animal food activities.     Robert Brackett gave an FSPCA presentation to the Institute of Shortening and Edible Oils in Washington, DC on August 4. Download the presentation.

    FSPCA Webinars

    The Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FSPCA), in collaboration with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), hosts quarterly webinars to update stakeholders on the progress of the Alliance. 2015 webinars are scheduled for March 12, June 24, September 3 and December 17.
