Welcome to the Sprout Safety Alliance Online
The Sprout Safety Alliance (SSA), a public-private alliance, will develop a core curriculum, training and outreach programs for stakeholders in the sprout production community to enhance the industry's understanding and implementation of best practices for improving sprout safety, and requirements for sprout producers in the upcoming rule on standards for produce safety required by the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).
Comment period extended!
The comment period for the proposed Rules for Produce Safety and for Preventive Controls for Human Foods has been extended to September 16, 2013. Click here to read more about the proposed rules.
Webinar on FDA’s Proposed Sprout Regulations
On March 20, thirty-five participants learned more about the proposed requirements put forth in FDA’s Proposed Rule for Produce Safety, as presented by Dr. Samir Assar and Ms. Joy Johanson from FDA/CFSAN.
