Hermann Hall, echoes Galvin Library with its glass curtain wall and internally supported huge plate girders spanning the roof. The heavy pebble aggregate reinforced concrete support columnsinside suggest something of the scale of the clear spans. McCormick Auditorium, which seats 800 people is cradled between these columns.
Hermann Hall, affectionately known as the HUB, is IIT's student union. Its McCormick Auditorium plays host to movies, concerts and other special events. It is home to the Center for Multicultural Programs, a campus coffee house, a bowling alley, and the Bog, IIT's campus tavern. The Director's Office in Hermann Hall rents sports and recreation equipment.
