Perlstein Hall

(1945-46, Mies van der Rohe; Holabird and Root, associated architects).

The landscaping of the walkway west of Perlstein Hall is executed in the manner Mies envisioned for the entire campus. The native trees were selected and placed by Alfred Caldwell, a student and colleague of Mies who landscaped much of IIT's campus. Perlstein's small interior courtyard makes it unique among campus buildings.

Perlstein Hall houses many of the university's administrative offices, including the admission office, the president's office, the offices of several vice presidents, and the office of multicultural programs. It is also houses laboratories and classrooms for chemical engineering and metallurgical and materials engineering and the Fuel Cell/Battery Manufacturing Research Hub.
