Master of Mathematical FinanceOver the past few decades major transformations in global finance have given rise to increased demand for professionals with a deep understanding of the modern financial system, and the ability to provide quantitative services—such as the development and validation of pricing and hedging models—to the financial sector.
The IIT Master's in Mathematical Finance (MMF) is a professional (non thesis) interdisciplinary program offered jointly by IIT Stuart School of Business (SSB) and the Applied Mathematics (AM) department. It has been developed specifically to respond to these market and intellectual needs through a uniquely designed curriculum that integrates financial economics, theory of probability and stochastic processes, applied mathematics, computational mathematics and statistics.
The program provides individuals interested in pursuing careers in financial risk management with advanced education in theoretical, computational and business aspects of relevant quantitative methodologies.
IIT Stuart School of Business and Department of Applied Mathematics provide the highest quality education derived from a comprehensive curriculum rooted in the expertise of their faculty in areas such as financial risk management, financial programming, computational mathematics, stochastic analysis and mathematical finance. Students learn the theoretical background for pricing financial derivatives and managing financial risks, while understanding the underlying assumptions and an ability to critically ascertain the applicability and limitations of the various models.
Through a stimulating and well-rounded curriculum, everyday classroom experiences and unparalleled networking opportunities, an IIT degree in mathematical finance gives the student the flexibility to chart his or her own path. Careers in financial institutions, investment banks, commodities firms and academia are just some of your options.
The Stuart School of Business enjoys a prime location in the heart of Chicago's financial district, offering students easy access to the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, the Chicago Board Options Exchange and the LaSalle Street concentration of banks, brokerages and other financial institutions. IIT's park-like Main Campus is just south of downtown and is easily accessible by car, public transit, and the university shuttle system.
