Streaming video of the main ceremony will be available on the commencement website live during the event. In addition, we encourage students and their families as well as IIT faculty and staff to share the experience using social media.  Share your thoughts, congratulations to graduates, video, and photos from now until commencement and during the ceremonies and parties.  You can share them on Twitter using the hashtag #IITGrads2013 or on the IITGrads2013 Facebook page.

During the commencement ceremonies, there will be a live feed of commencement-related social media posts on the commencement website along with streaming video of the main ceremony.  Friends and family not attending in person can not only watch the ceremony live but see the photos, videos, and thoughts of the participants as they post them online.  Be sure to direct anyone who wishes to watch online to the commencement website, and bring your smartphones to commencement!

The KPCB Fellows Program offers outstanding college students from across the United States an opportunity to gain significant experience working on unique and challenging technical or design problems, and to develop new relationships that are meaningful to their careers.

Over the course of a summer, KPCB Fellows will be employed at KPCB’s portfolio companies, where they can develop their technical or design skills and be mentored by an executive within the company. Fellows will also be invited to attend private events held by KPCB and events hosted by portfolio companies, where they can meet other talented engineering and design students, network with luminaries in their respective field, and explore the San Francisco Bay Area.  Learn more at the KPCB Fellows site.

Organized by Chicago Architecture Today, the competition had the theme of “Rediscover the Future.” Aspiring young design professionals from all over the world were challenged to conceive, construct and commercialize an iconic super-tall tower with health care, university and residential use for Amman, Jordan.

Daras and four Spanish architecture students of the Polytechnic University of Valencia were advised by David Gallardo, an structural professor of the same university.

Their 1,000m tall skyscraper called Az-Zahr (which means flower in ancient Arabic) was conceived mixing the characteristic geometric patterns of the Arabic architecture with the organic growth of several petals whose shapes determine the final appearance of the skyscraper.

Architectural Fragments from Oprah's Holy City

“Center of the World,” an exhibition by IIT College of Architecture Assistant Professor Marshall Brown, will open on  at Western Exhibitions, Scott Speh Gallery, located at 845 W. Washington Blvd, 2nd Floor, in Chicago. The exhibition will be shown on Friday, June 7 from 5 – 8 pm.  Visit the Western Exhibitions site for more info.

Mingle with designers behind the work, and faculty and alumni at the opening reception of “Making the New” on Friday, May 17. The exhibition will be open to the public Saturday, May 18 – Tuesday, May 21 from 9 am – 12 pm.

The president and chief executive officer of Stepan Company spoke candidly about his road to success in the chemical industry. Speaking to a group that included 20 Bachelor of Industrial Technology and Master of Industrial Operations graduates from 2012, Stepan addressed the responsibilities and challenges of running a family business that started out with two employees and a few hundred dollars, and has well over $1 billion in sales worldwide today. He also reflected on the value of continuing education, and showed his support with a generous contribution to the Keith E. McKee Scholarship Fund for students in the INTM Program.

The event was a tremendous success thanks to IIT, IIT School of Applied Technology and INTM’s many wonderful faculty, staff, business partners and friends.
