Jingyu Lee Awarded Thornton Tomasetti Foundation National Scholarship
April 26, 2013Undergraduate architecture student Jingyu Lee has been awarded a $10,000 Thornton Tomasetti Foundation National Scholarship. One of three winners in 2013, the scholarship review committee commended Lee “for his exceptional academic success and demonstrated interest in the integration of engineering and architecture” as pursued through his rigorous work as a dual major in architecture and civil and environmental engineering. -
Architecture Undergrad Taylor Lilly Wins Gilman Scholarship for Study in Beijing
April 26, 2013Congratulations to Taylor Lilly, a third year architecture major, on earning the Gilman Scholarship for Study Abroad! Taylor plans to spend 10 weeks this summer in Beijing, learning Mandarin. As part of his intensive language program through IES, he will have the opportunity to meet and practice his language skills with Chinese students and take field trips to Mt. Wutai and Mongolia. -

EPA Honors IIT Landscape Architecture Studio with 1st Place in Campus RainWorks Challenge
April 22, 2013On Monday, April 22, Earth Day, the United States Environmental Protection Agency announces the winners of its Campus RainWorks Challenge, a new design competition created to inspire the next generation of landscape architects, planners and engineers to design and implement innovative green infrastructure systems that mitigate the impacts of urban stormwater while supporting vibrant, sustainable communities. IIT’s team, led by Studio Assistant Professor Mary Pat Mattson and Paul Anderson, was composed of students in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering and Environmental Management. -

Ross Barney Architects Project Featured in Chicago Architect Magazine

Chicago Architect is published by the Chicago Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. The project is a temple for the Jewish Reconstructionist Congregation in Evanston, Ill. Architecture Assistant Professor Sean Keller in Graham Foundation “New Geographies” Panel Discussion April 18
April 14, 2013Volume 5 of the Graham-funded New Geographies journal aims to recast the Mediterranean as a contemporary phenomenon and spatialize its region-making processes as a larger geographic entity in the twenty-first century. On April 18, Antonio Petrov, editor-in-chief of Volume 5, considers major topics of the new issue with Sean Keller, Clare Lyster, and Hashim Sarkis in a panel discussion moderated by Stephen J. Ramos. -
