This semester's theme is "Big Data: Collaborations between Computer Science and other Branches of Science and Engineering." Several IIT faculty will give short presentations, with topics including "Interactive Data Mining," "Big Spatial Data," and "Supporting Data-Intensive Computing at Extreme Scales."

    Fall 2012 Research Forum: Smart Materials

    The Graduate College Office of Research Support Services will host the Fall 2012 Research Forum on Monday, November 5 from 11:30 am–1:30 pm. This year’s theme is Smart Materials. Several IIT faculty members will speak about their research interests and areas for collaboration related to smart materials, the manufacture of smart materials, and biomaterials.     Lab Safety Training for Graduate Students

    The Graduate College would like to announce to all IIT faculty with laboratories a new training resource for lab safety now available for graduate students in research laboratories (areas with hazards greater than a normal office environment). Campus policy requires that safety training be provided for all students in research laboratories. A new short course, “Graduate Student Lab Safety” (SCO 723) featuring twelve quizzes on lab safety issues is now available in the IIT Blackboard Academic Suite
