24-Hour Access Continues at Galvin Library
May 3, 2013Paul V. Galvin Library is in the middle of its 13-day marathon of 24-hour access on both levels, which gives you optimal access as you prepare for the end of the semester. Galvin Library opened on April 28 and has remained open each day for 24 hours on both levels. That will continue straight through Finals Week, when the library will close on Friday, May 10 at 7:00 pm. -
24-Hour Access on Both Levels of Galvin Library
April 22, 2013Paul V. Galvin Library is offering 24-hour access on both levels for 13 days to give you optimal access as you prepare for the end of the semester. Study Week starts on Sunday, April 28 and Galvin Library will remain open 24 hours on both levels straight through Finals Week, when we will close on Friday, May 10 at 7:00 pm. -
Galvin Library Staying Open Two Hours Later on Friday Nights
March 27, 2013For the duration of the spring semester, Galvin Library will be staying open until 7:00 pm, adding two additional hours of access and services for our users when they need it most. Preparing for IPRO, finals, or projects, Galvin Library provides quiet and group study space, as well as areas for collaborative work. Check library hours on our web site. -

March 12, 2013Plan to engage in a lively discussion at Paul V. Galvin Library in celebration of both Women's History Month and the Muslim Journeys Bookshelf. Dreams of Trespass: Tales of a Harem Girlhood by Fatima Mernissi and The Butterfly Mosque: A Young American Woman's Journey to Love and Islam by G. Willow Wilson are the books that will be featured. One reflects the life of a girl born in Morocco in the 1940s, while the other is a recent account of a young woman's conversion and travels. -
Women’s Cultural Exchange: Muslim Women
March 4, 2013This panel discussion highlights the experience of our Muslim women students, both at home and at IIT. We will explore their cultural backgrounds, faith, values, customs, and much more. Extended Hours at Paul V. Galvin Library
February 26, 2013You asked for more hours and Paul V. Galvin Library is listening! With the lower level already open 24 hours, five days a week, that space can get crowded when the OTS Night Owl Lab closes at 7:00 am; therefore, Galvin Library will be opening the upper level one hour earlier Monday–Friday mornings. Starting Monday, March 4, the library will open the upper level at 7:30 am, giving you access to more tables, printers, scanners and study space. -
Career Fair Pro Tips Guide for IIT Career Fair Preparation
February 19, 2013When the Career Management Center surveys the companies that have attended the IIT Career Fair, the company representatives say the same thing: IIT students are exceedingly smart and polite but are not prepared to talk about the company itself or the industry they are in. This year, set yourself apart by using the Career Fair Pro Tips Guide created by librarians at Paul V. Galvin Library. -
Muslim Journeys Film Screening: “Prince of Slaves”
February 19, 2013Students, staff and faculty are invited to view the film "Prince Among Slaves" which recounts the true story of an African Muslim prince who was captured and sold into slavery in the American South. After 40 years of enslavement, he regained his freedom, became a national celebrity and dined in the White House. This is an incredible story about an incredible man who endured the humiliation of slavery without losing his dignity or his hope for freedom. The film will be shown on Thursday, February 28 from 3:00-6:00 pm in the MTCC Auditorium. -
Galvin Library Awarded NEH Grant
February 7, 2013Galvin Library is the recipient of a 2013 grant from the National Endowment of the Humanities issued in cooperation with the American Library Association. Entitled Muslim Journeys Bookshelf, the grant consists of twenty-three books, three films, and access to Oxford Islamic Studies Online, and is part of the NEH's Bridging Cultures initiative. -
