The Office of Student Activities extends a warm welcome to the new students who will be joining us this fall. We are here to help you transition to college life and get the most out of your IIT experience. The initial step for first year students is to sign up for a Summer Orientation session. This is an important experience that marks the beginning of your life at IIT and we encourage all first year students to attend. We understand that some students live too far away to attend a session over the summer, so during our August Welcome Week we offer an Orientation and Registration Program to help you register for classes and prepare for the start of school.

Join us for Summer Orientation – 2 days of lively, information-packed activities that will help you become familiar with IIT and the city of Chicago. You will meet your new classmates, current students and professors while exploring student life in one of the world’s most exciting cities! During orientation you will get your student ID card, receive academic advising and register for classes. In addition you will experience residence hall life and learn about IIT’s academic environment, campus resources, financing your education, and extracurricular and social opportunities.

Whether it’s your first time at IIT or a continuation of your summer orientation experience, Welcome Week offers a wide-range of fun and useful activities. When you arrive in August there will be plenty to do between moving in and getting ready for classes to start. But don’t worry, you will have plenty of opportunities to hang out with your friends from summer orientation, meet new people and enjoy a week full of student events!
