OTS Computer Lab and Printing Accounts
OTS computer labs are equipped with printers for members of the IIT community to use. An OTS computer lab and printing account is automatically created for each registered student. Users must have a computer lab account to access lab computers and print in OTS computer labs.
Please visit our policies page for more information on computer lab and printing accounts policies.
Account Login
Students, faculty and staff can log in and print in computer labs with their myIIT username and password (same as IIT Email username and password). When a myIIT password is changed, computer lab accounts will reflect the change.
Free Printing Credit
Every student receives free printing credits each semester they are enrolled in classes. In an effort to reduce unnecessary printing, in alignment with the university’s sustainability goals; beginning in the fall 2012 semester IIT will reduce the free printing credit to the equivalent of 250 black and white, letter-size (8.5” x 11”) prints per semester for all students.
Free printing credits are applied to student accounts each semester. Free printing credits that remain in a user’s account at the end of the fall and spring semesters will roll over to the next semester until the end of the academic year (end of the summer semester). At the completion of the summer semester all remaining free printing credits from that year will expire.
Free printing credits are nonrefundable and are expired annually with no exceptions. If a student has NOT registered for classes over the course of one academic year their printing account will be disabled and any remaining free credits will expire. Once the student registers for classes their printing account will be enabled and free credits for the current semester will be applied to their account. Faculty and staff printing accounts do not receive free printing credits. In order to print in OTS labs, faculty and staff members must add funds to their printing account.
Printing Accounts Deposits
Users may deposit additional funds to their printing account through the myIIT portal or at the OTS Office in Stuart Building Room 007. Credit cards are accepted through the IIT Print channel and cash and check are accepted at the OTS office in Stuart Building.
Stuart School of Business (SSB) users may deposit additional cash funds at the DTC Bursar’s office (Room 290 from 10AM – 6PM Mon.-Thurs. and 9AM – 5PM Fri., they are closed every day from 1PM – 2PM). Please mention that you would like to add money to your SSB print account. They will take your payment and issue you a receipt.
Bring your receipt to a member of the SSB IT staff (Room 635, 639 or 641 from 9AM - 5:30PM M-F) and the funds will be credited to your printing account within 24 hours.
* Personal funds deposited by a user will roll over every semester, as well as every year until the individual uses the funds or requests a refund of their cash deposit balance.
Refunds
Free printing credits are nonrefundable. Unused personal cash deposits may be refunded at the OTS Office in Stuart Building, Room 007. The receipt provided with the personal deposit must be presented for a refund.
Balance Adjustment Requests
If a user wishes to receive an adjustment to their free credit or cash deposit balance for a print job that was not completed or was damaged due to an equipment error, they may complete a “Balance Adjustment Request” form. These forms are available from the lab assistant in each computer lab. The form must be completed in the lab and submitted to the assistant working at the time of the printing error. Forms are collected and submitted for processing twice a week. It may take several days for an adjustment to be reflected in the user’s account balance.

A link to install print drivers for OTS lab printers to a user’s personal computer is also in the MyPrint channel. The Printing Package drivers are only for non-lab computers. The drivers can not be installed on OTS lab computers, which are set to print directly to printers in that lab.
IIT Remote Printing
IIT Remote Printing Members of the IIT community can use their computer lab account to send a print job from their personal computer to a Printing Release Station. For more information about Remote Printing click here (note: you must log into the myIIT portal to view this page).
In order to use this service, the user must first download the printing package from the myIIT Print Channel.
Then they can send a printing job to the OTS lab printing queue. The document will remain in the queue for 24 hours until the individual logs into a Printing Release Station and sends the document to a printer connected to that station.
