About the College of Psychology
The College of Psychology is an independent college at Illinois Institute of Technology, a private, Ph.D. granting university, established in 1890, with programs in engineering, science, psychology, architecture, business, design and law. The first Psychology degrees were awarded by the University in 1926. Seventy years later, in 1996, the College of Psychology evolved from the Department of Psychology in Lewis College of Science and Letters.
The College is housed on the University's 120-acre Main Campus, which was designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, one of the 20th century's most influential architects. Today, the College of Psychology is uniquely positioned to respond to the demand for mental health care practitioners, educators, top corporate performers and gifted consultants with the skills to understand people in many sectors and settings.

The College offers professional consulting services through the Center for Research and Service. It is a nexus of information and services and forges ongoing partnerships linking the science of psychology with industry and the community. Staffed by a full-time Director and consulting professionals, the Center supports clients through research-based solutions that improve individual, team and organizational performance. The College also directs activities of the university's Leadership Academy.
