Psychology Professor Tamara Goldman Sher Appeared on "Ask Amy Live" Event on December 1
IIT College of Psychology Associate Professor and Director of Clinical Training Tamara Goldman Sher appeared at the Ask Amy Live: Relationships 101 event at 6 pm on Wednesday, December 1 at the Chase Auditorium, where the nationally syndicated advice columnist and author and expert panelists talked about life, love and the problems that come with them any time of year.

Along with host Amy Dickinson and co-panelist and radio host John St. Augustine, Sher fielded questions and comments from live audience members, who also weighed in on the discussion electronically with "rapid-response devices" that immediately tallied results. Ask Amy Live: Relationships 101 was the first in a series of three educational and entertaining panel discussions featuring "Ask Amy" and a panel of experts.

Tamara Goldman Sher received her Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where her interest in marriage and couples originated. From there, she served on the faculty at Rush Medical School, bridging for the first time her interest in couples with her emerging interest in health psychology. She is the co-editor, with Karen Schmaling, of The Psychology of Couples and Illness. Sher has written extensively in the couples and health literature and continues to look for more effective and efficient ways to include a couples component into traditional health care. She runs a small private practice in Chicago where she sees couples in distress, couples dealing with a health crisis, and individual adults.
