Dr. Lam's Lab
Dr. Chow S. LAM received his Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Psychology from University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1985. Upon graduation, he joined IIT's Department of Psychology as an assistant professor. He became full Professor in 1994 and Distinguished Professor in 2002. Dr. Lam directs the Rehabilitation Psychology Program since 1987. Under his leadership, the Rehabilitation Psychology Program gains nationally and internationally recognition and was currently ranked in the top 5 in the nation by the U.S. News and World Report (2007).
In the international arena, Dr. Lam is working with several major universities in both China and Hong Kong. He is a visiting Professor at the Sun Yat-Sen University's School of Medicine in Guangzhou and the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Through a NIH research grant, Dr. Lam currently works with faculties from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, China Academy of Sciences, and Beijing Normal University.
A prolific writer, Dr. Lam has published more than 105 journal articles and book chapters. His work receives national recognition. He is the recipient of the 2005 James Garret Distinguished Research Career Award, a four-time winner of the America Rehabilitation Counseling Association Research Award (ARCA), and twice winner of Rehabilitation Educator of the Year of the National Council on Rehabilitation Education (NCRE). Additionally, he is Fellow of the American Psychological Association (APA), Distinguished Research Fellow of the National Institute on Disabilities and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR), and the first Chinese-American elected as President of ARCA in 2000-2001.
