Joyce Hopkins, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the College of Psychology at Illinois Institute of Technology. Formerly, she was the Co-Director of the Parent-Infant Development Service at the University of Chicago Medical Center.  Her clinical and research interests are focused on socioemotional development in infants and young children, and risk factors for disorders in this age group.  Specifically, she is interested in the role of attachment and parenting, as well as temperament, in the development of child psychopathology. She was the Co-Investigator of a 5-year NIMH-funded longitudinal study examining early risk factors for Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Anxiety and Depression in preschool children.  Current research interests are focused on the development of effective treatment strategies for early-appearing disorders, as well as continuing to follow these children as they reach middle childhood and early adolescence. Dr. Hopkins also serves on the Board of Directors of the Illinois Association for Infant Mental Health and was formerly the President of this Board.
