We are excited to present you the debut issue of the new IIT Magazine, replacing our alumni newsletter, Catalyst. In each issue you will find news of our alumni as well as stories of the research and ideas that are making IIT one of the most fascinating institutions in higher learning today. Though we can’t physically give you a sample of the energy infusing the growth and excitement on campus, we can present you a publication that is fueled with that same dynamic energy.

IIT Magazine will seek to give you a sense of what’s on the horizon for the institution, like our Math and Science Education Academy, profiled in this issue. It will also keep you up to date on some of the exciting research of faculty members like Philip Troyk, who appears as this issue’s cover story. Architecturally, we continue to make progress on the McCormick Tribune Campus Center. If you are in the area, stop by and see one of the most significant Chicago architectural statements of recent years.

Thank you for all the support you provide to IIT. Whether you help us recruit students, hire our graduates, serve as a mentor or make gifts to the university, you do make a difference.
