Spotlighted Funding Opportunity: DOE Early Career Principal Investigator Program
NIH Seeks Feedback on Strategic Plan for Minority Health
Dear Readers,
Fall is here, and it’s the time when staff in the Graduate College get to meet new faculty members at IIT. We are happy to be working with some of these new faculty on research proposals.
As always, we look forward to working with any and all of the IIT faculty whenever they want to submit proposals for extramural funding. Please do stop by the Main Building to ask how we can help you with your proposal-writing endeavors—or even if it’s just to say hello. We enjoy meeting the people we serve.
On behalf of Research Support Services, here’s wishing a wonderful Thanksgiving to all of you.

With the increasing compliance requirements by various sponsors, Research News will be including articles from time to time regarding compliance issues.
It has been said that research cannot be done by theory alone. Sometimes human subjects or animal subjects are needed to provide a better model for a specific study. All research with humans or animals must meet federal guidelines. In order to meet these guidelines and perform research on these two groups, a protocol must be filed and subsequently reviewed by various review boards.
At IIT, the Institutional Review Board (IRB) is the committee charged with overseeing the protection of human subjects; the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) is the committee charged with overseeing the protection of animals. You can find more information on our website: http://www.grad.iit.edu/research/osrp.html
If you should ever have any questions, please contact us at osrp@iit.edu, or at

Editor’s Note: Domenica Pappas is Executive Officer of IIT’s Institutional Review Board and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee.
