NIH announces a new policy effective May 2, 2005. The policy requests that NIH-funded investigators submit to the NIH National Library of Medicine's PubMed Central (PMC) an electronic version of the author's final manuscript, upon acceptance for publication, resulting from research supported in whole or in part with direct costs from NIH. The author's final manuscript is defined as the final version accepted for journal publication, and includes all modifications from the publishing peer review process. These manuscripts will be preserved permanently in the PMC archive for use by the public, health care providers, educators, scientists, and NIH.
This policy applies to all research grant and career development award mechanisms, cooperative agreements, contracts, and Institutional and Individual Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Awards, as well as NIH intramural research studies.
The tuition amount that should be budgeted on grant proposals is now $692 per credit hour. If you have any questions, please contact Sponsored Research and Programs at 312-567-3035 or osrp@iit.edu.

NCIIA Grants - deadline May 13
Twice yearly the NCIIA awards grants totalling over $1 million to its member institutions to support and strengthen invention, innovation, and entrepreneurship through curricular development and the work of Advanced E-Teams. This RFP reflects an expanded focus, placing priority on products, technologies and curricula that benefit the environment and the human condition.
Grants are awarded in two major categories:
- Course and Program grants - awarded for the purpose of strengthening existing programs or building new programs in invention, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Grants are up to $50,000 for periods of 1-3 years.
- Advanced E-Team grants - provide E-Teams with the support they need to bring an innovative product or technology from idea to prototype, and eventually to market. Grants are up to $20,000 for periods of 12-24 months.
- Other grant categories - resource grants for new initiatives that will develop into useful resources for E-Teams. Also dissemination grants to faculty to present NCIIA-related papers at professional meetings and conference sponsorship grants to organizations that share similar objectives
