Introduction and How to Submit Ads
At the request of IIT faculty, this "Equipment Sharing" section has been set up online. Please consider this your "equipment marketplace." Research equipment is expensive, but sharing it reduces costs and helps the IIT research enterprise. Sometimes, faculty join together as a group to submit a proposal for extramural funding for research equipment. If you are interested in such an effort, please know that we would be happy to help broadcast your intentions and we will help you seek others who would be interested in participating with you.
You are invited to post your advertisements regarding:
1) Equipment you are seeking to use.
2) Equipment you have that is available for others to use (indicate any recharge fee and any specialized training or special personnel needed to run the equipment).
3) Equipment users you are seeking so that you can include them in a proposal for extramural funding to purchase the equipment.

Equipment Available for Sharing
Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer; Electronic weighing scale; Heated mantle; Powdered Activated Carbon (this isn't really equipment so much as a supply, but I get 50 lbs of it for free, so I can share); Nitrogen gas/liquid (also a supply; it's handy to know who has such things when you only need a small amount, but you need it now).

Biological, Chemical and Physical Sciences (BCPS) Machine Shop: This 2000 square feet facility is located in the Life Sciences Building, Room 011B on the IIT Main Campus. Mr. Thomas Torres is the shop supervisor. He can be reached at (312) 567-3392 or at torres@iit.edu.
Equipment Resources include: Fadal CNC VMC 15, a Computer Numerical Control Vertical Machining Center; LeBlond Lathe; Bridgeport Milling Machine; Wide variety of drill presses; Welding capability.
BCPS Machine Shop Software & Design Capabilities include: Autodesk Inventor and Mechanical Desktop Power Pack for three-dimensional modeling; EdgeCAM for CNC programming for the Fadal CNC VMC 15; and Co-engineering consultation service by machine shop supervisor. Faculty can submit electronic drawings via email, which are returned showing machining results prior to physical work being done. This affords cost savings while allowing researchers considerable ability to perform electronic design. Mechanical, Materials, and Aerospace Engineering Department (MMAE) Machine Shop
The MMAE Machine Shop offers machine shop capabilities and availability to help with the design and fabrication of specialized equipment. When special parts need to be fabricated, Craig Johnson will work with faculty and students to help with design and construction. The MMAE Machine shop has CNC milling and CNC lathe capabilities.
