First Year ExperienceThe first year experience (FYE) at the Illinois Institute of Technology is designed to help students find the resources and support you need to succeed during your time here.
FYE is a service offered from the Office of Campus Life. Campus Life combines Orientation, Parent Programs, Student Organizations, and Leadership to enhance your experience as a student during your time as an Illinois Tech Hawk. The first year experience program is comprised of two components: Peer Mentor Program and Freshman 15.
Peer Mentor Program
Each first year student is assigned a Peer Mentor. Your mentor is a sophomore, junior or senior who has been at IIT for at least one full academic year. This mentor is your connection to life on campus and success while at IIT. Students are encouraged to meet with their mentors at least twice a month, but maintain contact with them throughout your entire first year at IIT.
Join your Peer Mentor at any of the following FYE-wide events this Spring semester:
Closer to the beginning of the semester, Campus Life will release a list of 15 programs for the Spring semester. If you attend all 15 of these events, you will be entered into a drawing to win some great prizes.
If you have any questions about the First Year Experience program, or if you would like to get involved with the program, please contact Katie Stango.
