How to Advertise an Event

Advertising an event on campus can be done in a variety of ways. Campus Life always suggests organizations visit us to discuss specific events and ideas so that we can assist you in creating a marketing plan that addresses your needs. All postings, regardless of media, must adhere at a minimum to the IIT Posting Policy.

Electronic Message Boards

Electronic message boards are available in the McCormick Tribune Campus Center, IIT Tower, State Street Village, McCormick Student Village and Gunsaulus Hall. Slides may be submitted in Power Point format only. To submit slides, email the responsible department for the location in which you wish to post.

Paper Postings

Posting locations in the MTCC, Hermann Hall and Residence Halls are monitored by the Office of Campus Life and Residence and Greek Life. Please visit the Office of Campus Life to obtain proper permission for postings on campus. When dropping your postings off, please bring 24 copies of your advertisement. We will put 2 in the MTCC, take 9 to the Residence Halls, 1 will go to the Greek Quad, 1 will go to Vandercook, 1 will go to Shimer, and 10 will go to the Fraternity and Sorority Houses.

If you want to put any in to the academic buildings, you and your organization will be responsible for doing so.

Posting Policy

The IIT Posting Policy addresses the minimum requirements for advertisements on campus. All parties wishing to post a flyer or message on campus must adhere to the Posting Policy and obtain permission to post. Permission is granted in the form of a stamp from Campus Life in most cases.

Room Reservations

Room reservations for on-campus facilities are handled by the Campus and Conference Centers. Reservations may be made through the Internet, phone or in person.

Food Service

Sodexo is IIT's exclusive food service vendor. Offering a variety of on-campus venues for meals, Sodexo also provides catering for events and programs. Contact Catering with questions regarding food service for organization events.
