My Responsibilities
As we’ll be working together intimately on your application, we should discuss our expectations of each other, so we’re all on the same page. This page, together with your signed conduct agreement for study abroad, will outline your responsibilities as well as what you can expect from your study abroad advisor.
Expectations of Study Abroad Students
- You’ll submit all your paperwork on time;
- You’ll read all material sent to you from IIT and your host university/program provider;
- You’ll research your host city and country;
- You’ll ensure you’re aware of your visa requirements;
- You’ll abide by IIT student regulations and the laws of your host country (Code of Conduct)
- You’ll act as an ambassador for IIT;
- You’ll inform us if your plans change.
Expectations of the Study Abroad Office
The Study Abroad Office at the Illinois Institute of Technology provides and facilitates quality international education opportunities throughout the world. Deeply committed to international education and exchange programs, we promote the academic, professional and intercultural development of students before, during, and after their study abroad experiences. - We’ll give you our recommendations on the best program for you;
- We’ll enable you to find out more detailed information about your host university and host country;
- We’ll provide you with advice about the application process and transferring your credits and financial aid;
- We’ll help you connect with other study abroad students, past, present and future;
- We’ll hold briefings and orientations to prepare you to remain safe and healthy abroad;
- We’ll provide support for you while you are abroad;
- We’ll assist you in readjusting to life at IIT upon your return.
