I. GENERAL EDUCATION PROGRAM - Please consult the General Education section of the current IIT Bulletin for complete requirements.
- Basic Writing Proficiency - Students must show basic writing proficiency by receiving a satisfactory score on the Writing Proficiency Examination or by passing an English Composition course.
- Humanities - Choose one course from the following: ENG 103, 104, 105, 106, 107, 108, 208, 209, 220, 250, 260, 270; HIST 103, 104, 105, 106, 107, 108, 109, 200, 201, 250; or PHIL 101, 102, 103.
- Social Sciences - Choose one course from the following: ANTH 101, 275; ECON 100, 103, 104, 111, 210, 220; GEOG 102, 104, 106; PSCI 101, 102, 103; PSYC 101, 102, 205, 206, 207, 208, 210, 215, 250, 273; or SOC 101, 220, 240, 270, 280, 290, 293, 295.
- Choose one course from section B or section C or from the following: ART 115, 116, 117, 118; ENG 109, 190; HIST 210, 220, 230, 240, 260, 290, 293; MUS 101, 102, 103, 107, 201, 202; or THEA 101.
- Science Electives - A minimum of thirteen (13) hours is required to fulfill this requirement. At least one natural science or engineering elective must be in a field other than physics. An Applied Mathematics major should complete PHYS 201 and additional courses chosen from the following to total 13 credit hours: BIO 104, 105, 107, 125, 144, 146, 151, 152, 160, 220; CHEM 100, 101, 102, 108; or PHY 202, 203.
