Applied Mathematics

Please contact the Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs with any questions regarding the course equivalencies below.

I. GENERAL EDUCATION PROGRAM - Please consult the General Education section of the current IIT Bulletin for complete requirements.

1. Basic Writing Proficiency - Students must show basic writing proficiency by receiving a satisfactory score on the Writing Proficiency Examination or by passing an English Composition course.
2. Humanities - Choose one course from the following: ENGL 1713, 1743, 1853, 2553, 2613, 2623, 2773; HIST 1513, 1533, 2513, 2523; HUMS 1513, 2613; PHIL 2513, 2523, 2543.
3. Social Sciences - Choose one course from the following: ANTH 1713; GEOG 1513; PLSC 1513, 1523, 1553, 2613; PSYC 1813, 2513, 2553, 2563, 2773; SOSC 1543; or SOCY 2513, 2523, 2543, 2553.
4. Choose one course from section B or section C or from the following: ARTS 1553, 1613, 1623, 1633, 1713; HIST 1643, 1823, 1913, 2533; HUMS 1813, 1833; MUSC 1513; or PHIL 2533.
5. Science Electives - A minimum of thirteen (13) credit hours is required to fulfill this requirement. At least one natural science or engineering elective must be in a field other than physics. An Applied Mathematics major should complete PHYS 2614 and additional courses chosen from the following to total 13 credit hours: BIOL 1514, 1524, 1554, 1584, 1614, 1714, 2644, 2654, 2714; CHEM 1514, 1524, 2614, 2714; or PHYS 2614, 2624.
