Campus Overview
Some of the most famous buildings in the world, designed by legendary architects, are located on IIT Main Campus in Chicago. S. R. Crown Hall, an elegant steel-and-glass National Historic Landmark, is a marvel of engineering and simplicity by former IIT professor and Architecture dean Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Elevated trains run through the Rem Koolhaas-designed McCormick Tribune Campus Center. And IIT alumnus Helmut Jahn's State Street Village is one of the on-campus places to live.

The campus sits on 120-acres approximately 3 miles south of downtown Chicago and has received the following recognition:
- S. R. Crown Hall, designed by Mies van der Rohe, was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2001
- The McCormick Tribune Campus Center, also known as the MTCC, was chosen as the "coolest university building" in the country.
- American Institute of Architects named the IIT campus one of the 200 most significant works of architecture in the United States
- Forbes magazine named IIT's Main Campus as one of "America's Most Beautiful College Campuses." – 2011
- IIT was ranked the most sustainable university in Illinois. — 2010 Princeton Review
- The Commons, IIT's main cafeteria/restaurant, was ranked as one of the 15 best college cafeterias/restaurants in the nation.
