Overview
Admission to IIT is based on a variety of academic, extracurricular, social, and personal qualities. While requirements vary for students of different academic or geographic backgrounds, in general, all students are held to a high standard of academic excellence, aptitude in mathematics and science, social service, and a desire to pursue a high quality educational experience.
The Office of Undergraduate Admission has implemented an Early Action process. Once Early Action deadlines have passed, admission decisions will be made on a rolling basis. Architecture applicants are strongly encouraged to comply with the Early Action deadlines since space is limited.
We recommend that you submit your application as early as possible so that we can assist you throughout the process. For specific details on application deadlines, please view our Application Deadlines page. Some programs and scholarships have special deadlines as well.
IIT now accepts three types of online applications: our own standard application, as well as the Common Application and the Universal College Application (Note: The Common Application and the Universal application are down for maintenance and will be available again July 1st. If you would like to start an application, please use our Standard Application). Please note that you need to submit only one of the three available options. All applications offered by IIT will be treated and evaluated equally by the Admissions Committee. Please find the student type you will be applying as and select one of the applications offered.
