Application FAQ
Here are tips on how to handle some of the questions students frequently encounter while filling out the application. More points will be added as we become aware of them.
I am a transfer student without an advisor. What should I put?
Transfer students must put in a counselor's name as it is a required question. It doesn't have to necessarily be an individually dedicated counselor; it could be a general advisor within your specific school at a college/university.
I am an independent student and do not wish to share parent information.
Students who will not be submitting parent information should put "N/A" in the parents info field.
I am attending an international school without a CEEB code. What should I put?
Applicants have the option to select "Not Found" when they search for a school and no valid results are displayed to reflect their schools. There is also a video tutorial on this within the Help page of the Common Application Online.
I have an international phone number. How do I enter it?
Phone numbers are to be formatted a certain way for international applicants. Instructions for proper formatting are located with the phone number question within the application. Please pay careful attention to the instructions.
Do I need to submit the supplement and application separately?
Yes. The supplement and application are two separate things; you will need to submit both for your application to be complete.
Helpful tip: If you submit each page of your application as you go, any issues on the page you have submitted will be highlighted in gold. Otherwise, if you submit the whole application at the very end, it will show you the errors for all pages of the application, which can be difficult to keep track of.
