IIT/NCSSSMST Scholarship Program
In recognition of the shared sense of purpose and mission with regard to education and outreach, Illinois Institute of Technology is pleased to announce a new scholarship for students enrolled at NCSSSMST programs to encourage young people to pursue undergraduate study in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The IIT/NCSSSMST Scholarship program also recognizes the significant contributions that the faculty and staff at NCSSSMST schools have made toward ensuring a very high level of math and science literacy among our young people and for their in inspiring the next generation of leaders in these fields of study.
IIT recognizes that NCSSSMST schools enroll a range of students who may need financial assistance in paying for college.
Nominations for the IIT/NCSSSMST scholarship will be accepted from current faculty or staff of NCSSSMST Schools coordinated through the College Guidance Department; each school may recommend students to IIT who will be designated as IIT/NCSSSMST Scholars upon enrollment at IIT.
Scholarship Information
IIT will reserve at least one IIT/NCSSSMST Scholarship per school of $15,000 per year for four years (five years for architecture) to full-time undergraduate students. These scholarships are applicable towards tuition expenses at IIT and may be combined with other need-based scholarships awarded by the university. However, the total amount may not exceed tuition expenses. These scholarships are renewable as long as a student continues to maintain a satisfactory academic record and progress toward their degree.
How To Apply
- Complete an IIT application for admission
- Submit a letter of recommendation from a guidance counselor or faculty member at a NCSSSMTS School
Students who submit an application under the Early Decision (November 1) or Early Action I (December 1) will receive priority consideration for IIT's Undergraduate Research Scholars Program which provides a $5,000 stipend for undergraduate research during the summer after a student's first year at the university.
All student must submit the completed IIT application as well as the supplementary materials for the IIT/NCSSSMST Scholarship to the Office of Undergraduate Admission no later than February 1, 2011. All materials must be submitted by mail to:
