Industrial Technology & Management

Overview

The Industrial Technology and Management Program focuses on preparing skilled technicians for managerial positions in industry. Within every industrial setting, there are technical specialists who have the talent, potential and desire to move into management and staff positions, but lack the formal education required to do so. This program is designed to build upon a student's existing skills and expand their technical and managerial capabilities. Coursework covers a range of industrial activities as well as in-depth study of topics integral to industrial logistics, industrial facilities and manufacturing technology.

The majority of students in the program are already working in industry and bring a wide variety of industrial experience to the classroom. INTM course instructors are business and industry professionals who have extensive first-hand knowledge of the responsibilities, activities and challenges facing managers in today's highly competitive global marketplace.

To suit full-time work schedules, courses are offered evenings and Saturdays in Chicago, Wheaton IL and via the Internet. Students proceed through the program at their own pace and, with advice from their academic advisor, select courses which are best suited to their career interests and objectives.

Bachelor of Industrial Technology and Management (Bachelor)

The Bachelor of Industrial Technology and Management degree is a transfer program for individuals holding an Associates of Applied Science (AAS), an Associates of Science (AS) or 60 credits of equivalent coursework from an accredited college. Students are admitted with junior standing and proceed to complete 66 credits (22 courses) at IIT in order to accrue the 126 total credits required for the bachelor's degree. The core curriculum emphasizes proficiency in the essential functions of industrial enterprises with a focus on management-related topics. Students also complete technical and specialization electives, which provide in-depth coverage on various aspects of industrial operations, and may choose to complete one of three industrial specializations offered within the program.
