Overview

Devoting attention to American government, urban affairs, or public policy and management, the Department of Social Sciences teaches an understanding of the political, governmental, and public implications necessary for the workforce or graduate programs. The joint Bachelor of Science/Master of Public Administration (B.S./M.P.A.) program allows students to complete their undergraduate degree and a master's in public administration in only five years. The Dual Admission - Law (B.S./J.D.) program allows students to combine their undergraduate work and law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law and complete both undergraduate and law school in just six years.

The Department of Social Sciences faculty has special strengths in American government and politics, organization and management, policy analysis, and science and technology; many of the courses in this program reflect these specializations.

Bachelor of Science with concentration in Political Science (B.S.)

Students in the political science program can minor in sociology, history, literature, philosophy, public administration, or one of the many technical minors at IIT. The department offers interdisciplinary minors in legal studies, law and society, technology and human affairs, and urban studies.
