IIT is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA Division I). IIT athletes have been named NAIA and regional All-Americans and All-Conference selections.

Historic Campus

The academic campus of IIT was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. S. R. Crown Hall, home of the IIT architecture program, received National Historic Landmark status in 2001.
