2012 Discover IIT Days

For an in-depth look at our Main Campus, academic programs, student life, and the admission and financial aid processes, a Discover IIT Day is a great time to visit. To attend one in the 2011-2012 academic year, see the appropriate registration link below. Family members are welcome. Refreshments will be provided. Students, faculty, and staff will show you what IIT is all about!

Event Check-in is in Hermann Hall from 8:30 am - 9 am, with event activities scheduled from 9 am - 2:30 pm.

Please register for the Discover IIT day so we know to expect you and your guests. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with further event details. Registration will become available as we draw closer to the date of the event.

Individual Visit Opportunities

Visiting campus is a critical part of your college search. It enables you get a true feel for campus and meet members of the IIT community, from the admission team to current students and faculty.

To schedule your visit for the 2011-2012 academic year, review our weekday and Saturday opportunities below, then complete one of our online request forms. A confirmation of your registration will be sent from our visit coordinator to the email address given during registration. If time permits, you will also be sent a confirmation packet via US Post.

Fall and Spring Weekday Visits

Students and their families may schedule an appointment to meet with one of our admission counselors, Monday through Friday between 9:30 am and 2 pm. Appointments generally last about an hour and can cover a variety of topics. We encourage all students to visit with a counselor at least once during or before the application process so that all of their questions can be adequately answered.

One Hour walking tours of historic Main Campus, guided by our student ambassadors, leave from the Office of Undergraduate Admission Monday through Friday at 12:45 pm.

Students planning to enroll for the Fall 2012 term may also schedule an appointment to meet with a faculty member within their desired academic field. Due to scheduling and space considerations, we ask that these requests be made at least two weeks prior to the appointment.

Fall and Spring Saturday Visits

On select Saturday mornings throughout the academic year, the Office of Admission will be open from 10 am to 12 pm, offering campus tours with a student ambassador and a presentation with a member of our admission staff, covering IIT, the application and enrollment process, and financial aid and scholarship opportunities.

Overnight Visits

See what it's like to be an IIT student for a day. Through our Nighthawk Program, high school seniors and transfer students can enjoy any of the following:

Shadow a current student
Spend one night in a residence hall
Participate in campus activities
Take a campus tour
Meet with an admission counselor
Meet with a professor
Attend a class

Schedule Your Visit

The Nighthawk Program is offered now through April for Monday through Thursday nights. Please refer to the available dates listed below to see when our students are available to host you. When you find a day that fits your schedule, please fill out the request form and fax the Overnight Stay Agreement and General Release, and Emergency Contact and Medical Information forms to our office at 312.567.6939. We will notify you with a confirmation email once your visit has been arranged. Please note we will not process your request until we have received these documents.

Hosts

Our hosts are undergraduates who are current IIT students. They had many of your same questions and concerns as high school students, and we encourage you to ask them about their own college search process and experiences.

Cost

Your residence hall accommodations and meals are free. We encourage you to bring some money for any activities or entertainment in which you might participate with your host.

Your Responsibilities

As an IIT guest, you are expected to abide by the rules and regulations of the university, which are designed to build a friendly, caring, and safe atmosphere. When staying in a residence hall, all of the rules and regulations that apply to IIT students will apply to you.

Group Visits

Special visits for school groups or organizations who are interested in getting an inside look at student life at IIT and the college admission process can be scheduled through the Office of Undergraduate Admission. We offer student led group tours and special presentations with IIT staff throughout different times of the year.
