Programs
Camras Scholars
Illinois Institute of Technology's Camras Scholars Program is named for Marvin Camras (Electrical Engineering '40, Materials Science '42), a pioneer in magnetic recording technology. Camras Scholars lead the campus in leadership, service, and research by solving age-old problems in structural engineering, developing novel methods for improving campus life, and increasing the overall academic and social ethic of their fellow students.
Collens Scholars
Named in honor of former IIT President and Chicago Public School alumnus Lewis Collens, the Collens Scholarship is offered to Chicago Public School seniors who demonstrate defined financial need, a high standard of academic excellence, aptitude in mathematics, science and social service, and a desire to pursue a high quality educational experience.
Distinctive Education Programa at IIT
The distinctive education program at IIT combines the elements of innovation curriculum, space, and technology to enhance engineering education. The program implemented at IIT is a readily transferrable model for engineering programs across the country.
Interprofessional Projects (IPRO) Program
A general education requirement for all undergraduate students at IIT, the Interprofessional Projects (IPRO) Program joins together students from various academic disciplines to work as a team to tackle a real-world problem. Students from architecture, engineering, and humanities may create low-cost shelter solutions, or chemistry, business, and law students may develop best practices in CO2-reducing technologies.>
Summer Programs
IIT offers two summer programs for Chicago-area high school students: the Exelon Summer Institute and the Boeing Scholars Academy. The Exelon Summer Institute is a four-week program offered each year during the month of July for incoming IIT freshman; the Boeing Scholars Academy is a free educational enrichment program enabling access and exposure to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) academic and professional fields for high-achieving high school students.
Student Success
The Kedge Program and Early Adulthood Course are intervention programs that enable students to meet the university's standards for academic performance.
Office of Undergraduate Research
The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) works to enhance existing programs at IIT and provide new opportunities for mentored collaborative research experiences for undergraduates. OUR promotes both intra- and extramural research opportunities for undergraduates, faculty-student interactions and provides fellowship opportunities for students involved in research.
