     - Programming Competition

The ACM student chapter at the Illinois Institute of Technology with help from the Computer Science Department, the Computing and Networking Services and with the sponsorship of Microsoft announces:

The Spring 2003 ACM-IIT Programming Competition League (AIPCL), on Friday April 4, from 3:30PM to 8:30PM. Pizza and soft drinks will be available starting at 2:00PM, and Microsoft will provide prizes (PC/Xbox games, software or books) to the top third teams.

The ACM-IIT Programming Competition League (AIPCL) is a programming competition between teams of one, two, or three students to solve non-trivial programming problems within a certain time limit. The format and rules of this competition follow those of the International ACM Programming Competition.

AIPCL is designed to prepare students for the regional ACM programming competition held annually in the fall. The ACM student chapter invites students from both IIT and surrounding universities to participate.

If you're interested in participating, take a look at

for the type of problems to appear on the competition and its rules

There will be no practice session, but participants will be able to test the computing environment starting at 2:30PM. Microsoft Visual C++ is available, while for Java participants will be able to install their own input and output utilities.

Please contact Syed Uzair Aqeel from the ACM student chapter at uaqeel@iit.edu if you plan to attend. Feel free to broadcast this announcement - undergraduate and first-year graduate students are eligible to participate.

The competition is organized and judged by Gruia Calinescu from the Computer Science Department at Illinois Institute of Technology.
