     - IIT Wins Regional ICPC

On Saturday Nov. 6 IIT participated in the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (http://icpc.baylor.edu/icpc/), the Mid-Central Region (http://csc.smsu.edu/~mcpc/). We went to Loyola University. The competition was sponsored by IBM and by ACM. The CS Department (Professor Reingold) sponsored our teams.

The IIT-A team, composed of Chris Meyers (CS graduate student), Sterling Stein (CS graduate student), and Hart Wilson (ECE and CS major) had an outstanding result winning the Mid-Central Region, and will go to the World Finals at the the Pudong Shangri-La Hotel, Shanghai, April 3-7, 2005 They solved five problems out of seven edging by time solved U Illinois A and U Chicago Dead Fun. The IIT-B team, composed of undergraduate students Daniel Kroll (ECE), Dmitry Ratnikov (CS), and Daniel Weiss (CS) had a good result solving four problems and finishing in the 19th position out of 108 teams. Next year with training and luck they can win.
