80 years ago, Australians, fought against the Turks, alongside with the British Empire Army and Navy in the land of Turks, which is called Anatolia. The defending side, Turks, were defending their land against major invading powers of the time. The spirit of the Turks were so high even an allied army of many nations could not break this defense.
Anatolia became power house to the Ottoman Empire which lead the Islamic world for about 600 years and served as a model for pre-modern Islamic states. Half of the civilized world was under the control of Ottoman Empire during the 15th century.
