Angle Rock
Where the St. Croix
River is concerned it's current doesn't get any stronger than under Angle
Rock. Ten feet out from the rock the river drops off some 100 feet allowing
the tourist boats to graze right by as you climb. On a couple routes you
can anchor into huge giant rings just as boats did eighty years ago. While
the climbs may never be crowded there will always be people atop of angle
rock. Conspicuously setup and be prepared for cliff jumping red necks.
Access
to the top: From the parking lot, walk towards the river, taking the first
left and follow it to the top of the rock.
Access
to the bottom:
Rap down to the small triangular ledge and carefully pull your rope to avoid
getting it wet. The easiest dry way up is 5.9. Tope roping from the top
may be best.
