Arch 225 - CAD IN PRACTICE(Kearns)

Exercise 7

As culmination to the first half of the semester’s assignments, create full sized prints of your drawings to date. For proper printing, create a plot style table (storing it appropriately in your directory structure) to manage proper colors, weighting, etc. Your drawings should be fully noted, labeled, and upto date reflecting the previous assignments.

(please note, these drawings will be "redlined' as they would be in an architectural office and returned to you for corrections the following week. These redlines, as opposed to an additional review as I had originally explained, will serve as the review or status report of your progress up till now)

In addition to the prints, for next class period, experiment with Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Flash, and Adobe Photoshop through the rendering of (2) presentation drawings (1 plan, 1 elevation) These presentation drawings should be outputed as either a JPG, gif, or PDF file for easy delivery via the web. The renderings should further articulate materiality, color, light, etc but do not need to be photo realistic nor accurate to the conditions. Feel free to render the space as you wish.

By classtime next, all of your work should be syncronized between your zip disk and Myronfiles for submission of the mid-term asset management review.

RE: PRINTING
As discussed in class, there is an HP wide format inkjet printer in the SE corner of the lab. The printer is local to the machine to its left and therefore you can not print to it from any other printer. To print to this printer you must supply your own paper by roll or by sheet. Beyond the cost of the paper, printing on this machine is free and therefore highly recommended. The 3 wide format printers across the hall from the lab are all setup to print on high quality paper, but at a premium.

Paper Source - (one of many)
www.charrette.com - online/mail order service for drafting supplies
(please note, there is a south-side distribution center, from which you can pick up pre-arrranged orders, call directly)
The most economical type of paper for inkjet plotter use is basic bond.

No reserve roll as of yet, however, one of your fellow classmates informed me that students have run basic kraft paper (which would be somewhat similar in weight to bond) Best yet, the kraft paper is available free from the shop, please tread lightly!
