3D ANIMATION IN CAD PRESENTATIONS

COURSE OBJECTIVE

To review methods and concepts on how to create dynamic architectural presentation using 3D animation software. The focus is on computer-based animation and digital editing techniques.

NAAB CRITERIA COVERED: 14,16,40,41,42,43,48,53






TEACHING METHOD

The course consists of a series of lectures and labs. The lectures cover basic animation concepts related to the exercises. The labs are used to work on the exercises. The exercises include advanced rendering methods, lighting techniques, material assignment, camera movements, assembling/disassembling objects, ground and background movements, morphing of objects and materials, digital editing of animation sequences, composing with multiple cameras, and adding titles and special effects.

Each student is assigned a personal computer using Autodesk 3D-Studio for animation and Adobe Premiere for editing. Completed animations are recorded onto video tape.

Lectures are supplemented with videos of professional animations.






EVALUATION

Students are evaluated by 98 exercises, 1 rendering project and 1 animation project. Work is evaluated according to:
