This project is currently on the drawing boards. The Common Ground Health Clinic in New Orleans is the only free clinic in Louisiana, and was the first clinic in the city to reopen after Hurricane Katrina. Because of the ongoing devastated state of the city's healthcare system, the clinic's social place is very much still necessary. Since their humble beginnings in a mosque in the poor but friendly Algiers neighborhood five days after the storm, they have moved across the street into an old general store and even renovated the space. However, they need more space. That space will come in the form of a renovation of the general store's second floor. Based on a site trip we took December 14-17, 2007, we hope for the chance to design and build-out this new space, though the possibilities are still under consideration by the board of the health clinic. Please also see their website.
