Honors Law Program

Should speech on the Internet be regulated?

Who should have access to the results of genetic testing?

Who owns the anticancer agent discovered in an extract from a rare marine creature?

Do the potential benefits of cloning outweigh the possible abuses?

These questions represent some of the fastest growing areas of the law that require attorneys with strong preparation in the sciences. These areas include patent, information technology, environmental, and health care law.

If you're interested in biology, chemistry, or physics and intrigued by the law, our Honors Law Program may be for you. The Honors Law Program is a Seven-Year Program leading to the Bachelor of Science and Juris Doctor degrees. Illinois Institute of Technology is the nation's only institute of technology with its own law school, Chicago-Kent College of Law which is renowned for its emphasis on science and technology. By combining an IIT undergraduate science and law school education, you will prepare for the legal profession in a truly distinctive way.

The Honors Law Program has the following features:

  • Guaranteed admission to Chicago-Kent College of Law provided you maintain satisfactory academic progress at IIT and meet the character and fitness requirements of Chicago-Kent
  • Consideration for half- to full-tuition scholarships for both your undergraduate and law school education
