Premedical and Combined B.S./M.D. Programs

Rapidly advancing technology is changing the practice of every profession today. Rarely does that take on the life and death significance it does in medicine. Effective use of technology in medicine saves lives. IIT's premedical and combined medical school programs are designed to meet the need for technologically proficient physicians and medical researchers.

• A premedical studies minor may be pursued in conjunction with any of our traditional B.S. programs in biology, chemistry or physics.
• Our post-baccalaureate premedical studies program serves the needs of college graduates who have decided to pursue a medical education but who lack some or all of the basic science courses required for admission to medical school.
• The IIT/Rush Medical College Program is a six-year program to which students apply during their sophomore year at IIT. Students admitted to this program complete their undergraduate degree at IIT in molecular biochemistry and biophysics, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or computer science. The final four years are spent at Rush Medical College. This program is designed for those who intend to be research-oriented physicians.
• We also offer new dual degree programs with Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (B.S./O.D.) and the Illinois College of Optometry. Please contact the IIT office of undergaduate admissions for more details.
