Policy: Project Accounting Departmental Responsibilities

Purpose: To communicate to Principal Investigators, Department Coordinators and the IIT community Project Accounting's responsibilities.

Process: Project Accounting responsibilities shall include:

  1. Assist Investigators and Staff
  2. Sponsor Invoicing
  3. New Account Creation
  4. New Account Notification
  5. Effort Reporting
  6. Financial Reporting to Sponsors
  7. Grant Audit Coordination and Assistance
  8. Regulation Compliance Verification
  9. Accounting System Maintenance
    • Budget Input
    • Table Maintenance
    • Recording Invoices
  10. Monitor Cash Receipts
  11. Monitor Accounts Receivable and Advances
  12. Execute Draw downs of Cash From Federal Letters of Credit
  13. Negotiate Indirect Cost Rate
  14. Assist Investigators and Staff
  15. Payroll Authorization Processing
  16. Account Close Out
