GENERAL EDUCATION PROGRAM - Please consult the General Education section of the current IIT Bulletin for complete requirements.

1. Basic Writing Proficiency - Students must show basic writing proficiency by receiving a satisfactory score on the Writing Proficiency Examination or by passing an English Composition course.
   
   
2. Humanities - Choose one course from the following: EGL 113, 115, 117, 129, 221, 222, 223, 224, 225, 226, 227, 228, 229, 230, 231, 232, 234, 235, 241, 242; HIS 111, 112, 120, 131, 132, 135, 207, 221, 222; HUM 120, 121, 127; or PHL 106, 107, 170, 180, 205, 215, 230, 231, 240.
   
   
3. Social Sciences - Choose one course from the following: ANT 202, 203, 204, 210; ECO 110, 201, 202, 203; GEG 120, 122, 130; PSC 101, 102, 103, 104, 110, 111, 201, 202, 204, 209, 210; PSY 101, 107, 108, 115, 120, 122, 130, 201, 202, 203, 204, 205, 206, 211, 221, 234, 235, 236, 237, 238, 241; SOC 101, 103, 104, 210, 220, 230, 232, 233, 234; or SSC 101, 105, 201, 205, 206.
   
   
4. Choose one course from section B or section C or from the following: ART 111, 112, 113, 114; EGL 260; HIS 113, 114, 115, 121, 139, 140, 208, 211, 216, 225, 226, 227, 228, 233, 234, 235, 236, 240, 260; HUM 122, 123, 125, 126, 131, 133, 140, 142, 160, 165, 210, 220, 242; or MUS 145, 236, PHL 245.
   
   
5. Science Electives - A minimum of eleven (11) credit hours is required. Two courses must be in the same field and at least one course must be in a different field. Choose from the following: BIO 101, 104, 105, 106, 108, 121, 122, 131, 132; CHM 101, 105, 121, 122, 207, 229, 230; EAS 101, 102, 125, 205 or PHY 101, 115, 131, 132.,
   
   
6. Mathematics - Choose MAT 250 (IIT's Math 151).
   
   
7. Computer Science - Choose CSC 155 or 156 (IIT's CS 105 or CS 201).
   
   
8. Ethics Elective - Choose one course from the following: PHL 106, 107, 180.
   
   
9. Science, Technology and Society Elective - Choose one course from the following: COM 220; PHL 170; PSY 202, 241; or SOC 232.
   
   
10. ICOM and PTC Electives - Choose two courses from the following: CHI 101, 102; FRE 101, 102; GER 101, 102; HBW 101, 102; ITL 101, 102; JAN 101, 102; KOR 101, 102; MAT 131; MKT 131 265; POL 101, 102; PSC 202; PSYC 101, 221; RUSS 101, 102; or SPAN 101, 102.
    
    
11. Free Electives - Choose three courses from any of the courses listed in the above sections or any course with an "IAI" designation, except MAT 125, 128, 129, 143, 180.
    
    
12. Minor Electives (PTC only) - The Professional and Technical Communication curriculum requires a 15 semester hour minor. Depending on the minor, a student may complete a maximum of three courses at Oakton. Please contact IIT's Office of Educational Services for additional information.
