- GENERAL EDUCATION
PROGRAM - Please consult the General Education section of the current
IIT Bulletin for complete requirements.
- Basic
Writing Proficiency - Students must show basic writing proficiency
by receiving a satisfactory score on the Writing Proficiency Examination
or by passing an English Composition course at IIT.
- Humanities
- Choose
one course from the following: HST 140, 141, 142, 143, 144, 244,
245, 280; HUM 111, 112, 113; LIT 139, 140, 141, 143, 144, 145, 146, 147,
148, 150, 151, 241, 243, 244, 245, 251, 252, 260, 273; or PHL 150, 153,
154, 155, 256.
- Social
Sciences - Choose one course from the following: ANP 102, 103;
ECO 101, 105, 110, 111; GEO 130; PSC 160, 161, 269; PSY 170, 176, 225,
270, 271, 273, 275, 276; or SOC 190, 290, 291, 293, 294, 295, 296, 298,
299.
- Choose one course from section B or section C or from the following:
ART 131, 141, 246, 251, 252, 253; ENG 204; HST 151, 152, 182, 183; HUM
115, 117, 120, 121, 210, 250; LIT 142; MUS 102, 104, 106, 121, 221, 222;
or THE 133.
- Science Electives - A minimum of thirteen (13) hours is required
to fulfill this requirement. An Applied Mathematics major should complete
PHY 211 and additional courses chosen from the following to total 13 credit
hours: AST 201, 202, BIO 100, 103, 104, 106, 107, 131, 137, 140, 151,
162, 164, 171, 185, 205, 210, 211, 213, 221; CHM 100, 101, 102, 215; or
PHY 212, 213.
