Welcome to IIT Network Services

All new students receive the following accounts: Vax, Charlie (e-mail), Kerberos (dial-up). For more information about the servers they reside on point your browser to www.iit.edu/~howto.  Vax and Charlie accounts are generated automatically from the list of new students received from the office of Admissions at the beginning of the semester. The following rules apply to these accounts:

 
1. Your user name is the first 4 letters of your last name followed by the first 3 letters of your first name.

2. If your last name is shorter than 4 letters, take your last name and append as many letters of your first name as necessary to make the name 7 letters long. If your first name is shorter than 3 letters then just append it to the 4 letters of your last name.

3. If the resulting user name is already in the system append consecutive numbers to it.

4. Your password is your IIT ID # with no spaces or dashes (just the numbers).
Students needing dial-up accounts must apply for them after receiving a Charlie and Vax accounts. Helpdesk assistant will create one for you at Stuart Building room 122H. You must have  your ID with you. Information about how to set up your computer to dial IIT modem pool can be found at www.iit.edu/~howto.
