Bachelor of Science in Engineering Management We're Looking for the Next Generation of Business Leaders In this era of technological innovation and emerging global economy, there is a growing need for professionals possessing a unique set of business and engineering competencies. IIT's Bachelor of Engineering Management program is designed to prepare students to become leaders in our increasingly complex world. The program effectively integrates the fundamentals of science and engineering with practices of management, finance and marketing. It emphasizes the development of critical thinking skills, practical problem solving and informed decision making which are necessary to succeed in a changing environment. Program overview This program is intended for students who want to develop a solid base in science and engineering, but would like to integrate these studies with a focus on management and business. As an engineering management major, you'll begin your education taking foundation-building courses in mathematics, science, engineering and business. Later, your focus will shift to studies concentrating on a specific engineering, business or psychology discipline. Your personal interests dictate the direction of your curriculum. Choose from: construction management, transportation engineering, fire protection engineering, environmental engineering, manufacturing and materials engineering, and minors in computer science, information technology,psychology, marketing and finance. Through rigorous study, you'll specialize in your chosen field, developing the abilities necessary to make educated decisions regarding technology, as well as product and process development. You'll be able to make informed decisions based upon technical, financial, marketing, human resource and strategic concerns. Throughout your studies, you'll perform academic analysis for new products, technologies and processes. You'll examine target costs and forecasted rates of return on investment capital when working out financial details, marketing strategies and design decisions, as we teach you how to compose a successful business plan. You'll be able to understand and analyze competitive products, as well as be able to build successful organizations competing within complex technological environments.
