Job Title Project Support Coordinator

Job Description Responsible for providing management of the drafting room and all construction documents and report support as necessary. Also responsible for providing construction management on minor projects. Use CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) in developing new construction documents and transcribing existing drawings including civil, architectural and MEP. Using CAD system develops new construction documents from rough sketches and verbal directions. Transcribes existing drawings into CAD system. Integrates outside vendor CAD drawings into University master CAD drawing file as required. Retrieves and plots appropriate plans from CAD files. Develop and provide CAD building data to various users. Prepare presentation materials as requested by the Vice-President for Business and Finance and the Associate Vice-President and Department Director. Establish and maintain a facilities management, project management, and space management system through the use of Facilities related CAD. Drafting department management: Work with student interns in the assistance to the Project Coordinators, Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, Department Director and Associate Vice-President. Project administration: Survey existing buildings and verification of existing conditions. Verification of field conditions as directed. Maintenance of close out project documents. Coordination with Design & Construction and the Facilities Department in the development of building standards. Maintain document files and drafting room equipment and supplies. Oversees that document files (drawings, CAD files, etc.) are kept in organized neat and orderly manner, and that they are properly protected from elements of destruction. Oversees that drafting room is properly maintained and presents neat and professional appearance. Oversees that adequate stock of appropriate supplies will be available for prompt service. Oversees all drafting room equipment (computers, plotter, printer, document copier, etc) to ensure it is properly maintained and operational. Project Management of minor renovation projects. Plan, organize, schedule and supervise construction activities. Inspect and approve work on assigned project. Prepare and maintain records and reports as required to ensure that that the project is properly coordinated. Provide management with progress reports for assigned projects. Qualifications Associates degree in architecture or engineering or related working experience with architectural and engineering design. 1-2 years experience working in the design or construction field as a CAD operator. Familiar with City of Chicago Building code, OSHA, and other state and local codes and regulations. Excellent knowledge of computer equipment and associated software. Excellent knowledge of CAD (Civil, Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing). Good knowledge of MS Excel, MS Work, MS Project. Good communication skills. Knowledge of annual expense and capital budgets. Ability to walk construction sites and to climb.
